  • Off-Topic Subforums: Items Available and Items Wanted

I'm thinking of opening subforums for items available for purchase (e.g. philosophy books) and items wanted for purchase. Users would have to use third party services to conduct their sales (caveat emptor).

I think it would be a good way for sellers (e.g. those of us who have lots of book and not much space) to make their goods directly available to people who might want them, and for buyers to cut through the ridiculously inflated prices of a lot of used goods on Amazon.

Does anyone have any objections? advice? cautions?

I just don't know how necessary it is. I can almost always find a decent, used copy of what I'm looking for for less than $10 between Amazon, ebay, and Abebooks. But I guess it can't hurt to have a book bazaar. I myself have been trying to find a cheaper Encyclopedia Britanicca, with little success. But I would recommend you make it explicit that only books of a non-obscene nature may be sold on this site.

Problems may arise when some flea market agents begin to warn against other agents. Then you would have to decide whether this is the place to do it or not.

      Two options:
      1. If you go the flea market way, it would make sense to also go the merch shop way.
      2. If you are not ready for a merch shop, but people want a flea market, let them hook up on Facebook.
